A Store That Was Not Slow, but Invisible

Jotis sells original perfumes, cosmetics and household products online and in its shop in Pirdop. Its old online store ran on OpenCart 3.

One honest caveat: for real customers it was not slow. Google’s data from real visits passed. The problem was that search engines and AI assistants could barely read it.

What Search Engines and AI Saw on 5 October 2026

• The homepage title and description were just the legal name “Йотис Груп ЕООД”, and the page had no H1
• robots.txt did not exist, and sitemap.xml was an empty file without a single product
• Requests identifying as the ChatGPT and Claude crawlers got “403 Forbidden”
• Asked about Jotis, Perplexity cited the Greek food company jotis.gr 11 times and jotis.bg not once

What We Built

• A new store: an Astro storefront and Medusa v2 on our own server, with in-house image processing
• Checkout on one screen: pay by card online or on delivery, with details already filled in for signed-in customers
• Delivery with Speedy to an office or an address, with Econt and Pigeon Express also connected in the backend
• Free delivery over €51 for participating products, and with no minimum in Pirdop
• Jotis Club, wishlists and abandoned-cart reminders
• A custom admin panel shaped around how the team actually works
• Every product is machine-readable: price, stock and brand in structured data, a 1,097-URL sitemap, llms.txt, and a robots.txt that names and admits 9 AI crawlers

The Numbers We Can Show

• 650+ customers and 2,600+ orders moved over from OpenCart into the new store
• Google PageSpeed on the new store (7 October 2026): 100 on desktop, 85 on a phone, SEO 100
• 18 MB → under 0.7 MB to load the homepage on a slow mobile connection
• Under 50 ms backend response per request
• From an empty sitemap to 1,097 URLs that search engines can crawl

The new store has been live on jotis.bg since 6 October 2026. Sales data since launch stays with the client. In 30 days we will check again whether AI assistants now cite jotis.bg.
